Toyota Motor Europe has announced the opening of a new digital hub in Wrocław to expand its software capabilities across Europe. The newly established Toyota Digital Hub will employ around 200 highly skilled specialists focused on developing advanced applications, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity solutions.

Focus on Connected Services

The Wrocław-based team will work on enhancing the MyToyota and LexusLink+ applications, already used by more than 2 million customers across Europe. These platforms provide remote vehicle control, battery monitoring, and a wide range of digital services designed to improve the ownership experience.

In addition, the hub will contribute to the development of cloud systems enabling connected vehicle ecosystems, while ensuring high cybersecurity standards.

This investment represents a significant milestone for Toyota, as noted by Luis Lopes, Vice President Information & Technology at Toyota Motor Europe, underlining the project’s key role in strengthening the company:

“The Toyota Digital Hub will expand our software capabilities and reinforce our role as a trusted partner in global Software-Defined Vehicle development.”

Toyota Motor’s Presence in Europe and Operations in Poland

Toyota Motor Europe employs over 26,000 people across Europe and has invested more than €12 billion in the region since 1990. The company operates eight manufacturing plants and supports a network of approximately 2,300 retail outlets in 53 countries.

Toyota’s presence in Poland spans more than 35 years, since 1991. The company has two factories in Wałbrzych and Jelcz-Laskowice, employing 2,800 workers. Since 2015, the company has operated a Shared Services Centre in Wrocław, providing accounting and tax advisory services for its European operations.

With the launch of the Wrocław tech hub, Toyota Motor Europe continues to invest in digital transformation and sustainable mobility. The initiative aligns with its broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040 while advancing connected, inclusive mobility solutions.

Thus, Poland holds significant strategic importance for Toyota’s operations across Europe. The selection of Wrocław is therefore a natural choice, as emphasized by Thierry Boitel (Vice President of R&D at Toyota Motor Europe) and Andrzej Domański (Minister of Finance and Economy):

“Poland was selected due to its strong pool of highly skilled specialists and leading technical universities. This project strengthens our long-term commitment to the Polish market.”

“This decision confirms Poland’s strong investment appeal and its position as a hub for modern technologies.”

What’s also worth noting is that setting up operations in Wrocław is no coincidence. The city, often referred to as the “Polish Silicon Valley,” has been recognized as the top performer in the “Mid-Sized Cities” category in the “European Cities of the Future 2025” ranking, published by fDi Intelligence, a division of the Financial Times. It’s all thanks to its rapid technological development and a steady influx of foreign investment in the tech sector.

Poland’s Tech Talent Behind Toyota’s Decision

The decision to locate the new hub in Wrocław reflects confidence in Poland’s highly skilled workforce and rapidly growing tech sector. Choosing Poland for this investment, and earlier selecting Wrocław as a key operational center in 2015, has proven to be a strong strategic move.

As emphasized by Thierry Boitel, Poland stands out for its exceptional talent pool and the availability of top-tier developers, making it an ideal location for advanced digital and software development initiatives.
