Poland continues to invest heavily and focus on technological development, as evidenced by recent AI-related news. The establishment of the “AI Factory”, along with the recently published Digitalization Strategy, reflects the country’s commitment to advancing innovation.

AI Factory

Poland plans to establish an “AI Factory” at the Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET AGH in Kraków.  The facility will focus on the development, testing, and implementation of AI solutions.

In an interview with the Polish state news agency PAP, Poland’s Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs, Dariusz Standerski, described the AI Factory as a hub for creating, testing, and deploying AI systems. “It’s not a factory in the traditional sense,” Standerski explained. “It will be part of a broader European AI ecosystem, supported by the European Commission.” He noted that the investment would provide Poland with vital computing power and data resources.

Polish Digitalization Strategy

In line with these efforts, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski introduced Poland’s “Digitalization Strategy”, a ten-year plan focused on achieving digital transformation. By 2035, the strategy envisions that Poland, among others, will:

  • Ensure all public IT projects adhere to unified architectural standards under the State Information Architecture,
  • Cultivate a workforce of at least 1.5 million ICT specialists,
  • Enable 50% of businesses to adopt AI tools,
  • Dedicate 5% of GDP to digitalization by 2035,

The strategy also prioritizes the widespread use of AI tools in business and public services, with additional investments planned for cybersecurity and the digitization of infrastructure. Under the strategy, Poland aims to enhance its cybersecurity capabilities, moving public infrastructure into the cloud and further solidifying its position as a leader in data openness and digital resilience.
