EY Global Delivery Services Opens New Centre in Katowice

EY Global Delivery Services continues to expand its operations in Poland with the launch of a new operational centre in Katowice, its third such location in Poland. They’re further strengthening the city’s position as an important hub for modern business services. The new centre is expected to create over 150 highly skilled jobs, supporting EY teams and clients across global markets.

EY GDS has been operating in Poland since 2011 and currently employs around 3,000 people in Wrocław and Warsaw. Since then, the organisation has expanded its scope of activities, developing IT, analytics, finance, and creative teams. The opening of the new centre in Katowice marks another milestone in the 15-year history of EY GDS in Poland and confirms that the country remains one of EY’s key operational hubs in Europe.

The Importance of Katowice and Poland for EY Global Delivery Services

The decision to locate the new EY GDS site in Katowice reflects the city’s growing importance within the business services sector, its strong talent pool, and well-developed academic and technological ecosystem. Ajay Anand, Global Vice Chair at EY GDS, reflected confidence in the Polish market:

Moreover, he emphasized the importance of tech professionals from the region:

Katowice: Hidden Gem of Innovation

The opening of the new centre in Katowice sends a clear message that the city is perceived as a stable and forward-looking destination for global business. Mariusz Jankowski, Head of the Investor Relations Department at the City of Katowice, highlighted the broader impact of the investment:

Katowice is following a path of dynamic economic transformation, and the growing ecosystem of modern technologies, a rich and diverse academic base, and local talent with international competencies create unique conditions for such investments. We are pleased that new teams working in consulting, finance, risk management, and internal transformation will be established here. I believe that the presence of EY GDS will not only strengthen the local labour market in Katowice but will also act as a catalyst for the further development of innovative competencies in our city.

The potential of Katowice is also highlighted in other media. According to the ABSL report Business Services Sector in Katowice 2025, nearly 160 business services centres are already operating in Katowice and the metropolitan area, employing more than 36,000 specialists in total. Katowice ranks among the fastest-growing BSS hubs in Poland, with the IT sector accounting for nearly 42 percent of the local market.

Debate on the Future of Workforce in Poland

The inauguration of the new EY centre also served as a platform for a strategic debate on the future of workforce competencies and the importance of collaboration between business, local government, and academia. As part of the event, a panel discussion entitled “Talent 2030: How business, cities and campuses create the skills of the future” was held.

Panelists stressed that preparing future talent requires coordinated efforts to develop digital, analytical, and social skills, as well as closer cooperation between universities and the business services sector. The Global Business Services programme was mentioned as a model example of this approach, combining academic education with practical, real-world projects.
