In recent months, we’ve highlighted the accomplishments of Polish individuals on the global stage – from programmer Psyho, who won over an AI at the AtCoder World Tour Finals, to engineer Sławosz Uznański‑Wiśniewski, who soared into space on the historic Axiom Mission 4.

But now, we celebrate yet another remarkable success—this time, from the younger generation. Polish high school students have demonstrated their world-class talent in the most prestigious international academic competitions.

This year, Polish students earned medals at all major international informatics competitions. At the International Olympiad in Informatics, arguably the most prestigious of them all, Poland now ranks 5th in the world in the all-time standings, with a remarkable total of 45 gold, 54 silver, and 36 bronze medals.

Even more impressively, in terms of total medal count, Poland stands in 2nd place globally! Competing side by side with global powerhouses like the USA and China is an extraordinary achievement.

The success doesn’t stop there. At the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad, the world’s most prestigious mathematics competition, the Polish team ranked 4th globally (tied with Japan) and 1st in Europe. With a total score of 196 points, this is Poland’s best result since 1983. The team brought home an outstanding medal collection, consisting of three golds and three silvers. This is the strongest Polish performance in over two decades.

Among the gold medalists is Magdalena Pudełko, who earlier this year made history as the first-ever female winner of the Polish Mathematical Olympiad. Now, she returns from the IMO with a gold medal on the global stage, solidifying her place in Polish educational history.

Congratulations to the entire Polish team in Mathematics and Informatics! Your achievements are a source of immense national pride and a shining example of the brilliance and potential of the next generation.
